| Stacy, I'm blaming you. (I'm not really blaming you, but you are most likely to read this post first, so I'm blaming you. Yes, I know that's not really a good reason. =p) I am also dedicating this post to you, so maybe that makes up for it a little? I read your entry about study abroad. For the first time, it actually makes me a little worried that I'm going to Tokyo with virtually no knowledge of Japanese, about 8 usable phrases, and with no intention whatsoever of learning more before I leave. I don't even know when my flights are (though in all fairness, I don't even know when my flight back home for the first 2 weeks of September is), and have no idea what classes I'll be taking. I have no idea how I'm going to get money, get around, or even communicate with other people around me. It never dawned on me that it may be slightly difficult to go abroad with no tour guide, no friends from school, and no language skills. I don't know how to say "I'm fucked." in Japanese, but I probably should learn. But better late than never, I guess. I was about to declare that I was going to learn Japanese, and realized that I can't even write that in Japanese. It never dawned on me that I should know any Japanese to study abroad. I have an actuarial exam to take in Tokyo, and there's a good chance I won't even be able to find the building. And I'm pretty sure Google maps will not be able to help me for once, seeing as how I can't read Japanese. So let's start. Is the Poisson Distribution called the Sakana Distribution in Japanese? x.x ...no. It wasn't named after a fish. It was named after a man ...who was named after a fish. Ahhhhhh! What am I going to do?! |
